You missed something. Go back and read the quote that accompanied that statement. It had less to do with the remake and more to do with ridiculing anyone that like the old 1987 movie. That kind of attitude is unacceptable here.
Apart from that I think we are having a good debate about it all. |
You can rest assured as i read every single post on this thread and i know what happened. This is about you getting pissed of because he voiced his opinion. Even if you strongly disagree it doesn't make you entitled to call him an arrogant douchebag. There was room for further arguments in that debate but you chose to be disrespectful instead.

For me this will always be the Robocop that I will relate to always.
Now there is this NEW VERSION of Robocop i see before my beleaguered eyes.
I dont hate it by any means , I think that what I have seen they have done a pretty decent job of it up to now.
People will have their opinions good or bad ( hence the back and forth on this board right now)
Who knows what the film will be like, but to hate it from just a few set pics is ridiculous and also on the flip side to love it and hype it up to death is even more dangerous I Think.
A trailer or even a poster would probably give this project a bit of credence or lack there of.. Lol.
If this film bombs then so be it... It cant be any worse than R3 ( which was so far bad that I was completely and utterly disgusted by it )
We will just sweep it under the carpet and bury it like all the other shite that dares to put the Robocop name on it.
On the other hand though if this turns out to be a great film balanced with story, effects, wow moments and with a great musical score I cant see the harm in loving both films as seperate entities.
I must admit I am probably not as hardcore about Robo as I once was and probably not as fanboy as most people on this forum but I do care about the legacy of Robocop a great deal and hope with fingers crossed that this film steps outside the mould of other shite NEW VERSIONS of classic films we have seen lately.
I like a great debate as much as the next man but shooting each other down in flames pro or against is a waste of forum space me thinks.

Good first post  But be careful.... Going for the "lolollool Batman" path is a safer bet when discussing Robocop 2014. Gives more love.
This board needs to make up it's mind if it has room for all kinds of opinions. Even opinions that doesn't agree with the personal opinions of moderators. No hard feelings from my side. Active discussion is better than no discussion and all things considered, if this sparked more discussion and got some lurkers to join up the discussion: very nice!
The hardcore supporters of Robo 2014 will look like jackasses if the new movie is crap. The hardcore haters will look like jackasses if it's awesome. That's a risk both sides take and one side will have to "suck it up" eventually. Being in the middle is the true safe path. I wish the moderators were more to the middle. Isn't the purpose to moderate the discussion rather than forcing it a certain way, like now?

I guess I know were the Mods are coming from... But there does need to be a bit more impartiality when it comes to moderating. This site has been up for a long time without any new material to ponder... So when something comes out they dont like , the knives come out ....
I am of the feeling that even if Robocop 2014 is a runaway success it doesnt mean everyone on here will like it. You will get some who secretly think its good but wont admit it and that will be a ticking time bomb on this forum.
I am glad I am on the fence with this one.

That is what was said,thats an observation "Acting Like" is used within that statement that denotes a different value than "You are"...Enough trying to bend posts and statements to suit your needs..And remember it's Johans board...As for the knives coming out?..Go through all these posts count the number of times the american audiance is chastised buy one member in particular "s and r" over this film.I would suggest as Archive pointed out a more nuanced approach to this debate on both sides I "include myself" might lead to better debates,No ones gonna lay their opinions aside on this it just proves how relavent Robocop still is..

It's our passion for RoboCop that fuels this debate, we are both old school guys that love the original so much we have tattoos, build robo cars, have the armor, collect tons of merchandise, and spend countless hours on the message board discussing if RoboCop takes a shit...seriously I remember that thread.
I'm was never against a remake, I was looking forward to it, but just like every human on this planet I have an opinion, and it started turning sour when Joel was announced to play Murphy, I don't hate the guy I think he is a good actor but I just don't think he fits the part, then the pictures of the suit comes and I just explode. In my opinion it doesn't have the RoboCop feel or look. The more I look at it looks like a hot mess, nothing really flows on the suit.
When DRASTIC changes are made to the story and RoboCop’s identity...his suit, we instantly will fight it…after all we’re only human

The douchebag remark was a DIRECT reply to that quote and nothing else. We can all see the tone and what Raymond was going for in his post so please do not try to create something out of this that is not there.
I'm all up for a fun and heated DEBATE but when it comes to trying to ridicule people and taking cheap shots instead of coming up with good arguments it's not working any more.
Direct your love, hate, emotions and opinions towards the new MOVIE and not the users that post. This is such an obvious concept that I shouldn't have to explain it.
