Raymond :
Here is a nerdy finding. Seems to be two different models of EDs. Maybe 209s and 210s. Look how big the Iran ones are. Compared to a human they are huge!

http://i.imgur.com/UmWKF6B.jpg

Then notice these ones in the Omnicorp training facility

http://s24.postimg.org/p5kqkcxut/image.jpg

I agree, seems they have different size configurations. The big ones are probably more armored and powerful for all-out combat and better suited to high-intensity situations and/or open ground. Smaller ones look less strong, more like they work better in more urban, closer-confined lower intensity more law-enforcement type situations.

What is the budget for this movie?

$100 Million

If they hadn't spent so much fucking money on Gary Oldman and Sam Jackson, maybe they'd have enough to get a full cgi Robocop throughout the entire movie. Mad

OK, enough with the oversized pictures and the quoting of them making the screen super horizontal. Do you know how annoying it is to try and read a post that's been stretched horizontally by moving left and right constantly?

Apart from the all black suit and some of Kinneman's acting/delivery looking a bit off, I'm still feeling positive about this, even though at this point I have watched the trailer about 25 times. Nice to see it is racking up the views nicely online too as there are 4 or 5 different channels on YouTube hosting it and one of them this morning had over 1 million views for the trailer less than 9 hours after it was posted.

Not all that impressed, but whatever, it's not like it'll taint the original or George Lucas it or something. The real million dollar question for me is this: will this FINALLY get the original movie a properly remastered Blu-Ray release, like what happened with the otherwise uninteresting remake of Total Recall? I didn't buy the BR release, apparently it was pretty badly fouled up. Of course, even on the very small off-chance that it does, this remake and the marketing blitz that will accompany it are still a ways away.

Funny so many find Kinnaman cocky. Sure he trolls his son a but what dad doesn't do that? What other signs are there he's cocky?

When he wakes up I think losing temper could be warranted. He's lost everything. Put yourself in his shoes. In the full scene I got no doubt he goes through the entire book from despair, suicidal to full rage to some sort of acceptance.

They really opened a can of worms by having him retain his memories but it's gonna make it a very different movie

I agree about the memories, like I said it could be interesting to see how it would work.

As for Kinnaman's performance -he just exhibits that kind of demeanor, has that aura of big ego. Not a bad thing per-say, I just didn't care for it myself. Thats what it seemed like to me anyway.. He may not be too much like that in the film though, the trailer could be a bit misleading.

Again all we have is the trailer so my overwritten and overthinking thoughts are essentially a grain of salt. I have few concrete judgments at this point.

It would be nice if a moderator unlocked the old Kinnaman discussion thread: http://www.robocoparchive.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=2775

There we could judge with more detail the first impressions after the trailer.

I think he looks like a good Robo, his mouth area looks good with the helmet, and I liked the retouched voice, although there is much more contrast between the human and robotic voice, Kinnaman's natural voice sounds a bit high pitched while his Robo voice becomes very deep, that's why it sounds more artificial than Weller's who already had a natural deep voice.

There are more doubts about Kinnaman as Alex Murphy. Although we see very little of him in the trailer. Cocky? I actually think Peter Weller was pretty cocky, but in a more mature, experienced and professional way. Despite Weller being Murphy for a short time, he was instantly likeable and had charisma. First Weller looked professional, focused to do his job and follow orders. Then with Lewis he is fast to show himself as a good guy, nice, a bit cocky and playful, he doesn't want to be treated as a rookie or a soft cop from a good district and marks his territory being the driver without asking permission. And then we know him in action, a very good partner to rely on, he knows his job, he is direct and brave.

I said in it the past, for me the big difference between the 2 actors/characters is the age, Kinnaman looks much younger and unexperienced, I understand from an audience point of view a younger character is better for the main audience (teens and young adults) to identify with him, and his personal drama.

Some makeup work would have really helped out the look I mean this Murphy gets devastated by a firey explosion that appearently wasn't firey enough to singe his eyebrows..Smile

Maybe they were able to reconstruct his face or something, because in the scene where he is laying in the hospital bed, it looks to me like his face is pretty messed up. We'll have to see if they address that or not.

got to take the time perspective in account. Here is right after the accident. An eye is screwed up to.

When he wakes up it's passed a long time and he's been kept in a coma while they amputated part by part.

In the leaked January script he wasn't brought back to Detroit until like a year later. Can't guarantee it's the same time frame in the real movie but probably months later until he's revived. Eyebrows regrow. If they don't maybe Omnicorp can rebuild them like they can build artificial eyes.
