Alliance Home Entertainment has announced in Canada, on July 27th, they'll be releasing RoboCop Season 1 on DVD. Cost is CA$25.99 SRP, but you can pre-order it from Amazon.ca at a discount and lock in your copy. No further details are available yet, nor package art, but stay tuned.

Even though I am in the US, Canada's DVD's are region 1 so they will play in US players so I am a very happy Robo camper!

I wonder if it's just gonna be a re-hash of the UK release...
I got the first UK edition (the one with R2 poster art on the box) and I saw impressed - it was a neat release and cheap too. They even threw in some bonus features, even if some of them were downloaded from RA. _________________

Probably, I coolect Nightmare on Elm St momorabilia and I have every box set and DVD they have put out, and they are almost all the same. There are often only a few special features out there so they keep re-hashin them to make suckers like me keep buying them - damn those guys :o)

I'm not understanding why they are selling them in almost every country except the United States, no offense to those living in those countries. Is there some robo-embargo I'm not in on?

I will most definitely be picking up a copy of this when it is released. Atleast its an R1 DVD. Anyway I have seen a few episodes this and I am overall pleased with what I have seen its much better than the PD miniseries and I think its even better than RC3 for that matter.

Has anyone picked this up yet or seen any cover art? No pics on amazon.com and it was supposed to be released today.

Yeah, important to remember it is a CANADA release, so there is yet to be a official US release.
The series has also been available for some time in the UK
Whats up with that RED visor?

It's like the people who put shit out really have no idea what it is they are working with. The red visor is a mystery. Johan, you have spawned interest. I'm gonna try and do a little checking around, but... I think there needs to be some discussion of this "red visor". _________________

From the Sunrise Records site:
"ROBOCOP: THE BEGINING". The original 1987 film "ROBOCOP" was a strong social commentary piece disguised as a futuristic action flick. The layers of subtext are many (director Paul Verhoeven inisists it's a Christ allegory for example) and the film was notable for its satiric look at corporate greed and its unflinchingly graphic violence.
So violent in fact that the film was only available in Ontario as a heavily cut version for years.
After two sequels came the 1994 series "ROBOCOP: THE BEGINING" a Canadian TV production that toned down the violence considerably. In this, Robocop is less likely to pump a crook full of lead than he is to throw the scumbag into a nearby stack of empty cardboad boxes (who keeps leaving these things around town anyway?). Still the series has a certain charm to it and actually plays up the feelings of loss Alex Murphy (aka Robocop) has from being seperated from his family. It's also cool to see that in the future, despite all the crime and corruption, Detroit will have their own CN Tower!
The recent 6 DVD set contains all 22 episodes of the series and is worth a look for anyone who enjoyed the original films.
Your move, creep.
