I'm not really a fan of the Metroid-vanias. I've played 3 or 4 of them and I don't really enjoy them as much as the older titles. Castlevania: Curse of Darkness on the X-Box - now that was a good game!

Speakin of which the latest castlevania game on xbox360/PS3 was fucking great, you should defo try that one once in a while

Here are a few of my favorites. I tried to stick to characters that were original games (sorry Robocop, but you were an awesome movie before you were an awesome NES game. You don't make this list).
1. Samus Aran (Metroid)
2. Peppy Hare (Starfox) (not playable until Starfox on GameCube, but the zaniest character in the game)
3. Simon Belmont (Castlevania)
4. Megaman (Megaman series)
5. Link (The Legend of Zelda series)
6. Sonic (Sonic the Hedgehog series)
7. Bubble Bobble guys (I don't know their names, but they are the little dragons from Bubble Bobble)
8. Billy (Double Dragon) (who likes Jimmy?)
9. Luigi (Super Mario Bros.) (I always liked playing as Luigi in the first game, so I had to play 2 player, kill Mario and then have a Luigi only game. Incidentally, I hated Luigi in Super Mario Bros. 2)
10. The Amazon (Pro Wrestling on NES) (That bite move is so cool).

Younger brothers, that's who Or atleast they had to settle with him.
I'd have to add Protoman to my list, if I haven't already. Coolest guy in the entire Megaman franchise.
