Archive : | Zentron, The picture of the figure with the website as a background is gorgeous. | Thanks, I thought that I should at least take one pic that made the figure look good... before I showed the truth
Archive : | There seems to be a lot of flaws with the figure so i have not dared to order it online. It's one of those items i will have to pick up in a store to get a good look at it. The figure has a release date of 30 Sep in the UK though, so I'll have to wait quite a while. | Definitely a lot of flaws on the one I have... still finding parts that aren't formed right, bad painting, etc _________________ http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/1060/klfjustifiedancient.png

My 7inch Neca arrived two days ago. I have to say - according photos around I was awaiting it will be a little bit worse, especially the coloring ( You know there is many bugs, and every one figure has a specifical ones ) anway, I waited something worse. Most of all is with the coloring spoiled the head. But when you compare this "small" Neca figure with the colors on the Robo figures from Kotobukyia where the colors are totally perfect and clean, then yeah, the Neca could to do the coloring better.
Except these thing is the figure very nice, also with almost nice shine and ( it is not see very well on photos ) but also with a purple and blue shades. I did not try the second hand with the date spike yet, it looks for quite problem get the part of hand out and I really dont want to break something, the colors totally pasted together all the joints.
RoboCops from Neca has perfect proportions .. the same also for this small Neca, how lovely that looks. I am really glad to have also this Neca in my collection.
I took a photos, some "happy" photos. I created a cheap and fast background ..
Of course, the cat wants again "kill" everything.

Yeah the removeing of the gun hand can be pretty unnerveing...If you wiggle it a little while pulling it eventually comes off..

Yeah, some pictures look great whereas others look like they're made of clay.
I want this mainly for the articulation, but it seem like a product you would have to see before buying.
Still, the 18 inch will have to do I suppose...

Just like mine, the paint seems to be as bad, plus the scratches and pitting seems the same as well _________________ http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/1060/klfjustifiedancient.png

I've purchased a few of these already for my collection... but it took work, visiting local comic shops, sorting their stock to find ones with great paint apps. I came across some figures that were absolutely awful with black paint smeared all over and loose legs that looked broken yet still in the package. Quality control wasn't a factor in the creation of this product, I'm afraid. Were I as talented as some of you, I would purchase, repair and resell these poor quality Robos, as I'm sure they'll only wind up in the bargain bin.
Ultimately, I'm glad they released this figure as it does look great... and I'm grateful that someone posted a solution for the nosey figures, as I saw so many like that. _________________

By the way, does anyone know where I could purchase the 18" NECA mint in box for a decent price? I no longer see any on eBay.
If so, let me know... I'm in Canada, so hopefully shipping won't be too bad. I do have PayPal, FYI. _________________

I've seen one; NOT "NIB", but loose, still in great condition regardless. I missed the auction, but it was still a little steep price for me for a loose figure, though.
Anyway, I've got my MECA 7" figure about two weeks ago (sorry, being really busy lately), but it's just like Nika said, they should've done a better job on the paintjob, but it's OK compared to some I've seen. For the naked eye, and those not into the "neat-picky" sense of details... it's still decent collectable. If you get a camera in HI-Def in close up, of course you'll see deficencies here and there due to the size of the figure.
Other than that... I can't wait to get another one, so I could open up either one. _________________ - Robert

^ Thanks Darth, I managed to find one OOP on eBay for $85 shipped...
I'm actually surprised that no one else had bid on it. I actually have one already but it's stashed away for safekeeping.
At least now, I'll have one for display on my desk. _________________

I really like mine. When I bought mine, TRU had five of them. It's one of the only times that I've went through stock to find a nicely painted toy (typically, if I find something, I just buy it and deal with the quality, as I've never really run into major issues in the past). All but one had really bad paint work on the face and chin guard. I generally like to enjoy a figure straight out of the package, but I'm certainly not one willing to shy away from customization.
Speaking of which, I did end up doing four different things to mine. The first thing was what ElectricSoul suggested for the helmet covering the nose. Thanks so much for what you posted, ElectricSoul - it was very helpful!
The next thing I did was address the hampered arm articulation some. If you look where the elbow is articulated, the wires are showing just below the bicep. They are shortened where the elbow swivels to allow articulation. It's only a few millimeters, but that detail prevents the arms from articulating needlessly. I took my trusty X-ACTO knife and simply cut the excess detail. This doesn't solve the whole prolem of Robo's arms from articulating, but it helps a great deal.
While my issues with paint were minimal, the exchangeable arm with the interface needle had some minor paint issues. Basically, it was just excess paint on the fingers when the needle was painted. I just some Testors black gloss paint and touched it up.
The last thing I did with any sort of paint was coat the entire figures (except the face, as the skin tone needs to remain flat to convey realism) with two coats of Future floor polish. This provides a clear, gloss top-coat that acts as a sealant to help resist paint wear and chipping. As one might suspect, it gives the entire figure an extra hint of shine. See this for details on Future floor polish (or Pledge with Future): http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/tutorials-how-tos/214559-all-you-wanted-know-about-future-finish.html
Overall, it's a really great figure, and I'd highly recommend it to even a casual Robofan!

I saw this figure at a convention but didn't buy it. The sculpting was ok, but look very rough in many places and the paint job was crappy. I ended up getting the T1 Arnold Figure lol.
