ComingSoon.net has got the first look at Joel Kinnaman in the new RoboCop suit! Filming started today in Toronto and you can see the updated design below. RoboCop will be released in theatres august 2013.

DAMN! That's even earlier than I expected. This is the post I think many of us have been waiting for, the confirmation of the suit. Those concept designs were in fact what they used.
I'm not 100% in love with the suit, though I do find the helmet to be extremely awesome. I guess my main beef with the suit overall is the color, the black seems kind of drab and plain and generic sci-fiesque to me. It doesn't have quite the power of the shiny original, and I personally liked the blues and purples of old Robo, especially the Robo 2 suit. This one is too dark. However, the color scheme on the Omnicorp website and the first teaser picture show a white/grey and red kind of color scheme, which makes me think this might not be the final suit, or that they plan on adding some digital effects on top of what we see.
That said, I realllly like the helmet. It's modern and unique, yet still is instantly recognizable as Robocop. Even though the visor is red it doesn't look gaudy. it's sleek and it meets my extremly high expectations of the project.
The one thing I'm not getting is why he has one hand exposed. I'm thinking maybe where in the original they decide to remove his arm, this time they keep it...only later to chop it off. I'm not too thrilled with this concept, but I'll have to wait to see what's up.
Seeing this so early into the shooting process eases my mind. The suit looks a little plain, but it's not bad. Overall it's respectful of the original while still being different and more modern. Again I mention the helmet, because that has always been the main thing about Robo's design that I loved, and since this delivers it gives me hope. I am so glad we were able to get these first couple of pictures. I'm definitely a lot less anxious to know details about the film now that it is clearly underway and looking good. I'd be fine not seeing anything else until a trailer comes out. Of course, any more pictures from the set would be sweet.
Just seeing Kinnaman in the suit with the sexy helmet made my day. Nuff said.

I mean it fits in the Robocop universe...But its more Power ranger than Robocop...Man I just don't know about this..

Not a fan. Looks like the mech suits from gi joe rise of cobra mixed with ironman not something that would come out of detroit Too generic and not robocop enough.

It just doesn't feel like a cyborg at all. It looks like every futuristic version of police armor we have ever seen. Really not a fan
