The reboot of RoboCop has been delayed until 2014. Originally set for release on August 9, 2013, the Jose Padilha film will now open on February 7, 2014.
Elysium takes the spot previously held by Robocop. The remake is still in production, and the switch-up will allow more time for postproduction and visual effects, though that wasn't the reason for the move.

My only hope is that they've done some soul searching after the immensely negative reaction to the suit. But I'm probably wrong.

And so the stopping and starting begins.
Maybe it is all of the negative reception, because a hell of a lot of people are really critical of the direction the reboot is going. Or maybe they have a little more faith in the film which is replacing it.
Ah well, it was fun while it lasted.

I'm not surprised. It seems like in both film and music the first few dates they throw out don't mean anything, and they can only give an accurate date once the project is nearing completion.

I hope they keeep pushing it back like that piece of shit GI movie that will never get released, they know they have a huge turd on the plate and don't want to fuck it up even more, so here come the excuses.....thank fucking god.

Many months ago this was already confirmed on IMDB. If i'm not wrong i made a topic about that.
(I will search my poste history)
So this not releated with all the negative news around the movie. (It was plannend by MGM and Sony)

"interesting" is a bit of a stretch, seeing as one of the topics in question only had five posts in it, and three of them were yours!   :roll:
Seriously though, none of these minor release date changes are terribly interesting...even if they are pushing it back a year. It doesn't really mean anything yet. Once we see a trailer with some actual footage and it has a release date at the end, then it'll start being a 'real' date to look forward to it. Until then, it's all theoretical hearsay.

In a way, Im happy, but still feel ripped off.
As much as I hated the very idea of making this movie, I once again and reminded that RoboCop had his run, and still plays second string to other movies.
If it's meant to be, then it will happen.
I wonder, will they still shoot it? Or call it a day and abandon it altogether?
