Currently jumping between "Runbow" on Wii U and "Sonic Unleashed" on Wii.

"Runbow" is a fun indie game that was released recently. It's a platformer with short stages that have a moving rainbow for a background. When the background is the same color as the platforms/hazards/etc they disappear, until the color changes again. It's a neat mechanic, works well, multiplayer is fun and hectic (up to 9 players in a single game) and it has plenty of unlockable characters from other indie games, not to mention quite a few skins and colors for the main characters.

"Sonic Unleashed" is surprisingly good, considering the bad rap 3D Sonic games get. The main gimmick is that during the nights Sonic turns into a Werehog and it game becomes a beat 'em up platformer. These stages aren't bad, but nowhere near as good as the daytime stages - fast-paced Sonic action! The story, ofcourse, is ridiculous, but the gameplay isn't bad at all and the graphics are surprisingly good for a 3rd party Wii game.

Halo 5... Meh, it's no Destiny, and this is from a Halo fan since the day the first one came out. The story was ok but the whole deal has aged poorly in my opinion.

On a positive note, Fallout 4 will be completely consuming my life in about a weeks time.

Fallout 3 was a lot of fun. My brother and I are looking forward to the new one.
I have recently been playing a lot of Starfox 64. Talk about a great game. I remember when it first came out, I said to myself, I will probably be playing this game forever. I watched some online videos of people getting high scores and they have sick skills. I played for about 3 hours today to try to improve my personal best and I got a score of 1749. This is the best I've ever done, but I keep getting better. Maybe someday I will be able to get over 2000.

Fallout 4 is great but it is so scaled down compared to previous bethesda titles. If you are new to their games this game is going to blow you away. If you have played Skyrim, fallout 3, and other Bethesda games for hundreds of hours before this game is going to feel like you've been here and done that. Best way I can describe it. I felt the spark at first, but it has subsided. Modding content is what will keep me coming back.

I think my main gripe is the lack of enemies. After playing skyrim or fallout 3 for many many hours I was still running into enemies I had never seen before. In fallout 4 I think I saw every enemy in the game within about the first few hours of game time... First world problems. Very Happy

DP from way back...

I didn't actually play the game that I am going to link to. I got a copy of wolfenstein: the old blood cheap and wanted to see what the previous entry in the series was about. I was pleasantly surprised and I think you will be too. Check out this clip from Wolfenstein: the new order. You will not be disappointed. I promise.

Fallout New Vegas

My plasma lady wasnt right.
So I restarted with my favourite class. Unarmed combat!

Cocoppaplay
Had to emergency restart my tablet. So have to recover my character.

LOTRO

Installed it, but forgot login. Got to get it back.

Seriously considering getting Metal Gear Solid:5 The Phantom Pain.
But will research it first.

Got COD Blackops 3 on PS3.

It's not the same as the PS4 one.

Its got no campaign. No specialist customisation.

It's just multiplayer and zombies.

Shadows Of Evil is a awesome setting wasted on zombies.
I don't like hoard mode on anything much.

It should be a full, seperate, game, with campaign.

It's beautifully done. Bioshock-like.
But wasted. Beautiful looking, proper writing, screams exploration and single player.
But it's pointless zombies,
They need to do it properly.

Multiplayer is awesome. Fun.
Well made.
Wall running is good.

I prefer the heaviness of COD Advanced Warfare, though.
COD:AW is much better made and awesome.

I wish COD BO 3 had multiplayer. It looks wierd and interesting.

I got COD BO 1 as a free download with it. Which is good.
But it doesnt make up for no campaign Treyarch!

There is no reason they couldnt make the PS3 one the same as the PS4 one.

I decided to complete the campaign and multiplayer on all my CODs. Ghosts, Advanced Warfare, and Black Ops 3.
Prestige them all.

I havent finished downloading Black Ops 1 yet.

I played through some stuff in these past few months... let's see now...

"Sonic and the Black Knight" (Wii) - part of the Sonic Storybook series (which unfortunately got only two games), it's a fun, fast-paced on-rails Sonic game. The game is easy to play, not as easy to master, short, fun and has a couple of kickass tracks by "Crush 40". Underrated and recommended!

"Xeodrifter" - a short, but sweet Metroidvania game. Only about 2 hours long, but a thoroughly enjoyable ride from beginning to end.

"Dead or Alive; Dimensions" (3DS) - wow! This game is quite impressive, especially considering it was a 3DS launch title. Tight controls, great graphics, decent framerate even with the 3D on (though much faster if it's off) and combines the story of DoA 1-4 in a single game (or atleast whatever little story there is). Beat pretty much all of the modes that can be beaten and still enjoying it.

"Don't Escape" 1-3 - short browser adventure games. Quite good, feature multiple endings and are short enough to be played during your lunchbreak.

"Mighty Switch Force! 2" - just beat it actually. Very nice, just like the first one, though the final stage in this one felt much easier. Highly recommended, just like pretty much every other Wayforward game.

P.S. Woohoo! "Captain" level 5 reached Very Happy

It's been a good day for gaming today:

Wrapped up "Freedom Planet" on the Wii U - what started out as a Sonic fan-game ended up being a neat tribute to 16-bit mascot side-scrollers. Imagine Sonic as if made by Treasure. The voice-acting is amateurish, the story is non-coherent, but graphics, gameplay and music are great. And there's also a mode which plays all levels, minus the cutscenes and a level select is unlocked after beating the game, so I'll be coming back to it. There are also multiple playable characters, each with their own abilities and some unique levels, so I'll definitely come back to it.

Also played a few NES games, decided just to try them, but ended up beating them:
- "Dragon Fighter" - screams Natsume from the get-go. Not their best work, but certainly enjoyable, if a bit repetitive
- "Ultraman Club: Kaiju Dai Kessen" - a surprisingly decent SD Ultraman side-scroller, released only in Japan. Loved the SD style and detailed sprites. Gameplay is nice, but the music was mostly irritating.
- "Monster in my Pocket" - a childhood favourite of mine. 8-bit Konami goodness!

For the past few years I haven't been much of a gamer, basically only playing the original Super Smash Bros with friends for a several year stretch (but playing hundreds of games during that time). A few months back I bought a 3DS off one of my friends for $50, and it came with the Mario 64 remake, which I enjoyed. But what has really got me back into gaming is Animal Crossing. My friend let me borrow Wild World and I have been playing obsessively, planting fruit all over his town and even playing his mortgage. So now I have finally bought a video game for the first time in who knows how long, New Leaf, the most recent Animal Crossing game... Which is fitting because you could really say I've turned a new leaf when it comes to video games...

I've never really played "Animal Crossing"... I don't even know what you do exactly in the game, but I heard it's very addicting... I guess that's one of the reasons I try to stay clear of it Very Happy

Just yesterday I bought a copy of "RoboCop" for the original Gameboy and while unfortunately, it was not boxed, it did come with the manual in excellent condition.

So I decided to give it a shot, I don't think I ever beat it using emulators back in the day...
and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the game actually holds up pretty well.

The graphics are very good and fairly detailed, it follows scenes from the movie well, the music is very enjoyable and the controls are tight and responsive. Not only that, but the game also has some variety in terms of gameplay - with the providing of POV segments and criminal identification in the police files.

As far as I know, even though the game borrows from the arcade and NES version, it is actually a port of one of the earlier computer titles (ZX Spectrum if I remember correctly) and it is a faithful recreation.

One of the other things I loved is the stage where you try to arrest Dick Jones. Not only does it practically create a cut scene with the in-game graphics (something I adore in old games), but it brings a cool twist by having you fight ED-209 with your bare hands.

My only gripe with the game is the way too simplistic ending, which is text only. I'd have loved it if there was atleast a single picture too.

As for the music - no surprise that it's by the brilliant Johnatan Dunn. I was surprised to hear some themes I'm familiar with from the RoboCop 2 NES game.

I do think that it's safe to say that it's safe to say this is the best RoboCop game on the Gameboy (with R2 being somewhat decent and RvsT being abysmal and much worse than the unreleased NES version if I remember correctly), but I'd also say it's one of the best movie-based games on the system. Definitely worth picking up!

Beat some stuff over the weekend:

- "Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark" (Wii U) - What do you get when you take the awesomeness of "War for Cybertron" and "Fall of Cybertron", give it to a different studio and throw in some Bayformers stuff in there? Pretty much a cheap knock-off of two great games. But a playable knock-off nonetheless. The gameplay is fun, the story is lacking and I wish the whole game used the "Cybetron" designs instead of switching to the ones from "Age of Extinction" for the levels on Earth. Still, I can't deny the fact that it was awesome blasting around (and even stomping around as Grimlock).

It's a missed opportunity, but for a game I'm pretty sure was rushed, it's not too bad. I don't regret picking it up for the discounted price, as it's competent enough for the most part and it's short, so it doesn't have the time to really get stale and repetitive. It does however have a couple of game-breaking glitches which forced me to restart from previous checkpoints.

- "Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut" (Wii U) - a pretty interesting horror/survival/adventure game. Interesting mechanics, well-handled atmosphere, great music and multiple endings make this a neat game to check out. It's short too, so it can be beat in one sitting. I beat it in about 3-4 hours in Expert mode. Normal mode gives you a map, which should speed things up considerably. Worth checking out.
