RoboDemise : | I'm kinda fed up with all this new found original RoboCop love. It is fleeting and skin deep in most cases, just a hot topic to talk about. |
I'm with ya for the most part but honestly at least they are giving some appreciation or tribute to the original film, however shallow or light it may be. The alternative to that of course is a bunch of fucks who only know of this movie and/or think only this movie will be good or can even can top the original since it's not 'old' and so on - lines of thought stated strongly by similar 'jumping on the bandwagon' folks.
What peeves me, like Archive, is that the studios are taking that route and supporting that view officially in some ways, as proven by this topic itself. That I despise even more. Like J-man said, it's an aggressive and shitty move on their part. _________________ I don't wanna pay that, PhotoBucket. Now maybe you haven't heard, but I'm the guy in old Archive. So hows about you just shit snow for a year and I'll figure out something else. Sayonara!

DOUBLE POST ALERT
I originally had another YouTube and Gmail account that for some reason I can't get back into, hence why I now have another of both. Anyway, on my old account I of course had a playlist for the RC1 Score.
http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEB2DB9111C76299B
I just gave it another listen, and have found out that MGM has removed one of the tracks - Murphy's Death. That's right, the entire thing up, but only that track is taken down, the rest are still up and playing. Make sense of that shit. _________________ I don't wanna pay that, PhotoBucket. JohnBoyAdvance : | Spoilers for the new movie |
So heīs finally dead!
Donīt know, but that way to act is pretty dumb. I mean, a lot of people do fan trailers and stuff for that. For LOVE of the character, and it SERVES as promotion for the whole thing. On Youtube I had several "copyrights" things who ended with turning the videos off worldwide:
- Got my "Star Wars: Blues Brothers style" video taken off. Why? Itīs just a mashup of Star Wars and Blues Brothers just for fun. When? When it got pretty popular. I think it was pretty well recieved by people and got a lot of views.
- RoboCop: Live action/Cartoon opening: just the audio from the Marvel cartoon with images from the movie. Got MGM material, so take it off.
- RoboCop: The Series/Trilogy mashup. Same as the previous one, just putting audio from the opening of the 94 series with scenes from the trilogy.
- Even I got a note from one of my vids of a concert of The Blues Brothers Band broadcasted on a Spanish channel. The note was from a US music company, as if I was using a song from an album (which is not true, was a live rendition to a tune and that concert isnīt available on any format).
I feel fine when they want to take care of their things, but it gets excessive. I think most of the videos on youtube arenīt there to make money. Hell, Iīd be too much happy if someday I get fanmade videos or fanarts of my comic books characters. And I wouldnīt get mad to discover that they make interest on other people. But I guess I am thinking as a person and not a corporation.
PD: Neumeier liked some of the Robo vids. Heīs one of the creators of the whole thing. And he didnīt demand to take them off.

As an example, one of the most viewed RoboCop videos on youtube before the MGM purge was the original 1987 RoboCop TRAILER with several million views. And MGM blocked/removed that.
I am well aware that they just wanted the NEW trailer to appear at the top when searching for RoboCop, a dirty tactic, but how can they justify it by claiming a RoboCop TRAILER is copyright infringement? It's entire purpose is to promote the movie. It's just so dumb.
I have uploaded all the archive RoboCop videos again but will keep most of them unlisted and non-searchable until I'm sure MGM has stopped screwing fans over.

Still copyright infringement there too. Use of the script, and all.

It is bullshit I agree 100% completely but the fact is that now that youtube has ads on every video and somebody else, like google, is collecting ad revenue on their videos. It is free advertising but who is collecting ad revenue on random user uploaded videos like this?
Can't get away from commercials and ads, they are everywhere being hammered into the minds of simple consumers. If a company is making enough profits that you see their ads daily I make sure i never buy anything from that company. I understand media like games, movies, music, have advertising built into their budget because they are selling a concept/idea. But when Geico or any other business has enough money to play ads almost constantly all day, every day on every form of media somebody is just making way too much money and they will not get any of mine. I sound like a hypocrite with the games... Fuck it I am, all this logic is flawed. Everything is flawed.

Hey there Robo Peeps.(I hope you don't mind me calling you that btw.) I thought I would share my thoughts on the massive RoboCop you tube takedown. And since I have a unique connection to this issue since I have a you tube channel and have had multiple ones for years now, I thought I'd sound off on the issue. All of the you tube accounts I have had over the years were named after something RoboCop related and always had RoboCop content on them. It started with OCP0001, then 0002, 0003 followed. Now I'm just OcpCommunications. Been on that channel for three years and counting now. I believe I have had run ins with one of the guys who run the site before on his you tube channel. RoboCop Archive(Sorry I didn't help you on the project you wanted me to do. School.) Anyway, back onto the topic at hand. I have seen first hand the destruction of some of my hard work on youtube. I used to make tributes, fan made music videos to the RoboCop films. Now since the MGM takedown I have even reluctantly removed my other tributes as well, even though they didn't have any claims, just to be safe. It sucks, that MGM has to be such dicks all of the sudden. But these are the same guys who went bankrupt and remade Red Dawn, so hey I'm not surprised. I bet once the remake comes out the clamps will come off and MGM will allow more RoboCop content on you tube again.

^ I know of your channel, I've played some tracks from you (I've got a couple of your tracks from The Running Man in a couple of my playlists, but also some other stuff).
I have to say it kinda sucks about preemptively taking stuff down, part of me would say fuck it and keep it up 'til a stink is made - BUT, given recent events it's probably a wise move to nip it in the bud.
That said, I have an update - that score playlist I previously posted, now the Robo vs ED track is blocked along with Murphy's Death, but still, the rest remains playable. Bah. _________________ I don't wanna pay that, PhotoBucket. Now maybe you haven't heard, but I'm the guy in old Archive. I would like to know why MGM just decided to do this.
It reeks of dirty marketing.
Why would you block the music from the first movie?
I know it's there property but they are being overprotective.

Lol, welcome to two months ago, dude. I think nowadays they may have lightened up a bit on their video-deleting frenzy, what with all the remake clips out now and the movie being out pretty much everywhere within a month. I think some of the deleted stuff can come back now.
But then again, maybe not still. _________________ I don't wanna pay that, PhotoBucket. Now maybe you haven't heard, but I'm the guy in old Archive. So hows about you just shit snow for a year and I'll figure out something else. Sayonara!
