Yarbles :
I get less interested in this film with each new clip or image that's released. That "bad cop, robocop" line made me throw up in my mouth a little bit. The bare hand still looks dumb, Kinneman's face without the helmet down looks dumb, and even the with the helmet down and the red smiley-visor aren't really working for me.

Ok, i'm done for now. Just needed to vent a little.

This man speaks the truth.

And as another comment stated somewhere before, I'm not quite sure what to think about the fact that they're still shooting for the film... makes the release date, a deadline that is three months away, seem either rushed or unrealistic. BUT, the filming could be minor shit, or at least thats one hope anyway.

As for that clip - That line... is... bad, really bad, and I can't stand it. Such cheesy lines might be a throwback to the 80s but that shit doesn't work at all. And seeing Robo sitting at an office, damaged or not, just doesn't fuckin look right AT ALL. This is supposed to be RoboCop, not Homicide: Life on the Street or Law & Order.. that very piece baffles that fuck out of me and has now beaten that hand as the most out of place thing I've seen in this film. When the fuck does RoboCop EVER sit at a desk? Uh NEVER. If he ain't in his special crapper, then hes out kicking ass while a time or two lamenting what hes become. Period, end of story.

Sure him doing paperwork might be a nice little notch of realism. But so are traffic jams and lawyers. RoboCop didn't have any of that shit, just not that kind of movie. But this seems like it is.. and frankly, that might not be for the better. Whatever context where he would be at that desk with helmet off (And in all honesty, there is NO context imaginable that isn't stupid), it still just looks goofy, inane, and ridiculous. So he just keeps going on working like a regular cop? What an idiotic load of shit.

As for the actiony bits, it's ok, but not anything spectacular, honestly does look like something out of TDK/TDKR. A hard PG-13? Bah.. no such thing to me, but whatever. The ED wasn't that impressive either.

This teaser piece doesn't look promising. We'll see when the whole trailer comes out but now I'm actually getting real disappointed.. and I have fairly low expectations as it is.

Bad cop, RoboCop.

Extremely funny that the line everyone thought was stupid, even the remake worshippers, is shown front and center in the sneak peek video.

The writers obviously think the line is pure genius. Smile

I think some of you are taking this way too personally or overthinking it. A lot of films have re-shoots late in their production period, it could simply be for a shot of something they missed or realised would look better from a different angle, doesn't mean they're going in changing things around etc.

Judging individual scenes out of context is pointless, as they will probably end up being the scenes that when you see them as intended you will have a totally different opinion on.

I think people would feel a lot better if they didn't act like this movie is destroying their lives or ruining their memories. It's a modern day interpretation of the character and its themes. If you don't like what you're seeing, that's fine, no-one is forcing you to like it. But moaning about it over and over and calling it shit every time a new trailer or picture is released is getting a bit boring, and it's the same few people who are doing the bulk of the bitching. Perhaps create a moaning thread to discuss what you don't like about it instead of clogging up this thread with the same old "I don't like it, it looks shit" comments.

Paddy :

This is true, and that's what I am hoping, I really would hate if they still had anything major or serious to shoot this late into it.

Paddy :
Judging individual scenes out of context is pointless, as they will probably end up being the scenes that when you see them as intended you will have a totally different opinion on.

Honestly Paddy, there is no context conceivable where RoboCop would be sitting at a desk smirking with his helmet off and acting like a regular gumshoe with another cop gesturing him with a 'Bad cop, RoboCop' that isn't stupid. Just doesn't work, plain and simple. The scene might be more tolerable watched proper, but it doesn't change the fact it's still stupid, just like the hand and the bike and the black suit. If you'll forgive me for repeating myself. tongue

Paddy :

I would be fine if thats what it is, but it simply doesn't seem to be. There are very few themes from the original that seem to be at work here. This seems to be what I feared it might be five years ago when Aronofsky was on board - A 'reinvention' that has little to do with the original and is using the original's title for name recognition and little else. I could be wrong though, indeed hope for it. But those hopes haven't been reinforced too much. I liked the first trailer alright, but this one.. well, let me chill and not get ahead of myself indeed - Let me see the whole trailer and maybe I'll have a better idea of what I'm judging on, 'cause fifteen seconds isn't much (And of any 15 seconds of that trailer, they show that? Hmm).

Anyway, yeah sure, some of us are being overbearing broken records, but at least in my view, I don't like being that way - I keep hoping for something that makes me less of a naysayer. And I would hope others think the same way.

Can't help but take it personally man, as someone said we're fanatics. Or at least I would think we are, if we're posting here instead of some goofy content aggregation site or Facebook page. Yes even to piss and moan.. it does get tiring though, I'll grant you. Oh well.

The reality is mate it's a forum for just that, commenting on RoboCop (or a focus group's idea of him Wink ). It can't be helped that the majority have the same views.

If it was the other way around with unanimous praise no one would complain would they? Even if the good comments were recycled ad nauseam.

I totally disagree. I actually think this was the most interesting part of this teaser. It would seem Padhila's biggest goal with this remake is humanizing Robocop, and I for one like the idea of OCP/Omnicorp trying to get Robocop to interact with his his fellow officers. It's far-removed from the stiff, dismissive Robocop that didn't recognize Lewis in the original, but it's a new take on the character and I welcome the concept...as for the execution, well that's to be seen, but so far I think it looks good, what with the battle damage and all.

^ Well, I just don't know.. it seems so far removed it doesn't look and feel right. Plus how does that factor in with his wife being in the dark and showcasing OmniCorp's investment in him as the great 'future of justice' if he's sitting on his ass at a desk like an overworked case-worker? Plus you talk about interaction with his fellow officers? Would these officers have known Murphy, or is he somewhere else? If the former, wouldn't they perhaps be uncomfortable with his uh, condition, or perhaps make a stink about it? If the latter (they don't know him) wouldn't there be a case of resentment among some of the police about this 'product' coming in, possibly threatening their livelihood, like the original?

Conceptually it does bring some interesting facets, some I wouldn't mind going into - but as for the execution given? In that spot with that dialogue.. bah, I don't know. As for 'humanizing' him, well that is a good thing, unless it's overdone, which is what this seems like. A too-human RoboCop isn't really a good thing to me..

Again, I could be wrong. Concept maybe ok but it just doesn't seem like a good execution to me. We'll see though.

Crappy video of the ET footage someone taped off of their TV. Some
behind the scenes stuff and new footage... hoping a better quality video surfaces soon.

They have time to put it on the end credits.

Man, that "now ED eats the bike and I do flips on air" itīs not awesome. Iīm getting old for CGI fests, Yoda flying, Christopher Leeīs dancing skills while going with a lightsaber and all. I see a lot of CGI Robo jumping, moving fast and "incredible" stuff, so itīs hard to me to get Padilhaīs idea of a "realist" movie about a man in a cyborg suit.

I totally agree, though Im pretty numb to it now, remember how the writers and directors insisted Robocop PD would be a darker and more serious Robo? Same with transformers and we see how silly those movies are.

its what sells sadly.
