how?

Funko.

they're in the process of doing something called the "Re-Action" figure line. they're taking all their POP ! vinyl figure licences, and turning them into action figures done in the old 70's/80's Kenner style. they don't have to worry about actor likeness rights, cause the headsculpts are done in that simplistic style done back then. they have the rights to tons of movies/characters - Alien,Predator,NBX, Freddy Krueger,Jason Voorhees, Back to the Future, Escape From New York, The Terminator, Halloween, Saw, Trick r Treat, Pulp Fiction, Aliens, the Rocketeer, The Crow, Scream, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Hannibal, The Goonies, Firefly, Scream, Halloween, Univeral Monsters...

and they have the rights to RoboCop!

there's good news and bad news in this. I imagine the retro-styled sculpts will put some people off...

but, personally, I kinda dig them! then again,I grew up on Kenner stuff...

the really good news is they generally aren't just making 1 or 2 figures from a licence. they're making whole lines of these things! BTTF has Marty,Doc,Biff,George McFly... Pulp Fiction has 10 different characters... Horror Line in 9 figures, etc. so it's actually quite possible, if/when they do RoboCop,we could get a full, comprehensive movie line of these! something like:

Robocop
Lewis
Dick Jones
The Old Man
Clarence
Emil
Nash
Joe
Reed
Morton
Alex Murphy

Do we know for a fact that they have a license for Robo toys?

If we get a whole new retro toy series I think that would be amazing.

If they do have the licence, we could end up with some pretty cool toys. I certainly wouldn't mind the retro style.

yes, they have the RoboCop licence. any figures/licences they have the POP! Vinyl rights for, they also can make the 3" figures of,as actor likeness rights aren't needed for this retro styled lines.

I've got that Robo "Pop Vinyl" on my desk at work.

I for one don't like the retro style of sculpts, they look too messy to me, but I can see how others would get a kick out of owning a large collection.

Especially if they were well priced.

Yeah, they seem to be mostly aiming for 70s and early 80s designs, though I personally think Kenner's golden age were the 90s when it comes to action figures.
Still, I'd rather have a dorky-looking Clarence than be forced to use a Clark Kent figure with a gun for him (yes, I actually did that as a kid)

While I like the concept, I think the execution is too retro. I think that aiming for mid-late '80s (as opposed to late '70s or early '80s) would still be vague enough to avoid likeness problems, old enough to have the same appeal, but have a bit more of the dynamism that came into play later on.

What I want is movie-based figures that fit into the Ultra Police line. But hey, I bought the Mezco Robo set. I'm not exactly picky when it comes to non-realistic Robo figures.

I'd KILL for some movie characters in the UP line! an actual police uniform with vest and helmet Lewis, Clarence, Dick Jones, The Old Man,Cain, Hobbs, Melted Emil, and Nash. hell, give me a flashback Murphy as well!

Not everyone could get a Hot Toys figure.

That said, I think those toys look so ugly for my taste. IŽd skip them.
