With the US premiere at Feb 12, various RoboCop 2014 actors have visited some talk shows. It is the usual promotion stuff, but entertaining. The Conan video is particularly funny.
Jimmy Kimmel Live
Joel Kinnaman
Gary Oldman
Conan O'Brien
Joel Kinnaman

^ Whoa, are we that bad? Well, you certainly don't mind American movies. Seriously, I expect their still decent interviews, if not somewhat humorous, particularly Conan. Of course I'm a fan of him so maybe I'm not entirely objective.
Anyway, been waiting for that ever since I saw it on the schedule, posted it about the other day somewhere. About to catch Kinnaman's Conan interview myself. I'm gonna watch the full episode on TeamCoco site, I suggest doing that as well, you'll get the full interview there (they don't usually post full interviews on their 'clips', sometimes but hardly always). Either way though, I bet it is good, but that's Conan of course.
Nothing against Kimmel though, his stuff should be alright too. I'll check it after.
EDIT - Watching the full Conan episode now. He mentioned Sammy Jackson and that reporter in his monologue. So I got an extra bit already (well, kinda). Also totally fuckin' awesome to hear, From the new movie, RoboCop.. !. Lovin' it. _________________ I don't wanna pay that, PhotoBucket. Now maybe you haven't heard, but I'm the guy in old Archive. So hows about you just shit snow for a year and I'll figure out something else. Sayonara!

Ok, watched the whole Joel segment on Conan. All told, it pretty good of course, nice typical Conan interview - I did like he he kept focus on the film a bit more than Kimmel, yet still got a couple of decent laugh pieces too. Sadly there actually isn't much outside of the YouTube clip, There was a funny piece about Kinnaman's old man getting plastered after the premiere though - "He turned into an old black woman from Louisana!". The movie clip they showed was the training shootout with Maddox, so nothing new there.
Good for me to see a couple extra minutes but again, the YouTube video give us enough to see. I have to say I got a real kick out of seeing Kinnman-Robo in that trench-coat, that is gold. Again, good interview but again I really like Conan, so I guess you can take that as you may.
As for Kimmel's Joel interview it was okay, little on the remake though. I have to say that I did like hearing about how he did the Robo-movements and disturbed his mother, I'm sure many of us have been there. I didn't like the tone on the remark about Kinnaman seeing the original - we all saw R-rated flicks with our dads young, the lucky ones anyway. Did like the beer factory story though.
Now onto Oldman's interview - it was great, of course I really like Oldman, so again.. But he was awesome in the interview - He's just got such a lovely charm and tone to him.. yet the man played deranged psychos like it was nothing.. just awesome. I gotta say, his Robert De Niro impression - holy shit! Awesome job on that. Bottom line, he was awesome to watch. _________________ I don't wanna pay that, PhotoBucket. Just watched all the clips. Fun stuff.

I think all the clips donīt talk too much about Robo, to be honest. Itīs great to see actors having fun and talking about facts, but I was expecting some detailed interviews about the film.

He looks like a cool guy. As for all the interviews Iīve seen about him, he make us like him. And I agree, the de Niro impression was nice

Well this kinda of thing is usually all about the former - I agree it would have been nice to have more detailed stuff but really I wasn't looking for that here, just not in the vein of these kinda of shows really - on occasion it happens but not that much. I did expect maybe a good story or two and a couple laughs so I wasn't disappointed.
Conan's was good because at least he asked about the suit and being Robo, yeah it's still topical but at least he went there and actually showed some pics of Kinnaman in the suit, more than I can say for Kimmel. But yeah, it's still casual - More in-depth stuff is for other, frankly nerdier places.
Chanood : | He looks like a cool guy. As for all the interviews Iīve seen about him, he make us like him. And I agree, the de Niro impression was nice |
It's kinda crazy given a major part of his career was defined by playing real psychos and weirdos, he's an excellent actor but yeah, he seems a real cool and fun guy normally. Again, loved his piece, look forward to seeing another appearance of him somewhere, hopefully on Conan or Ferguson. _________________ I don't wanna pay that, PhotoBucket. Lol, I don't need to watch them now, thanks Stan, I've read your reviews! Though I'm intrigued to see Oldman's Di Neros impression. I've spent far too long on Archive the past couple of months, so really need to stop looking at every single article and link so I can get on with my life... Hey, Robo is my life you say!!

Watched all three of those today on PVR.
Entertaining, nothing too heavy or informative but still good to watch.

Yeah, he joked on a Robo interview about that. If some studio wanted him to be "bad", they must pay him more. So maybe he was a little bit bored to be typecast on baddies and crazy people.

I tend to agree with this, and I'm American.
Jimmy and Conan just annoy me with their rushed mediocre humor, instead of actually talking about anything remotely interesting.

I've found that with talk shows it just depends on what appeals to you about the host/show, if anything - People say it's guest-driven and thats true to an extent, but having seen the same guests between different shows, I can tell you I preferred certain interviews over others, so as I said, make with that as you may. That said, most only watch one or two guys with any regularity, I'm the same way (Conan and Craig Ferguson for the most part). Now I know some people just ain't into talk shows at all really. It's cool, and I can see where they're coming from.

I remember that, and yeah, the guy is really a great actor and has range to him, so seeing him in a different type of role like in R2014 is a real plus, that and I understand wanting something different at least once in a blue moon.
Now as for the topic, I mentioned Craig Ferguson - Last night on his Late Late Show, he had Aimee Garcia on, who plays Norton/Oldman's assistant. Same deal, very little about the film (Craig asked whether there was a car chase, and a couple other throwaway comments). However, a real standout was the film scene they showed - It had Garcia and Oldman and they were monitoring Robo, who apparently was recalling his memories as Murphy ("He's overriding the system" - "He's undoing what we did to him"), which I don't recall seeing that much of that sequence before, that was pretty cool actually.
Craig's had her on his show before, so there's that in addition to the regular promotion deal. According to the schedule Abbie Cornish should be on tonight (He's had her on before too), so I wonder what if anything they'll show/talk about on the remake. Probably not much but I'd be having the show on anyway, so, no loss either way.
I hate getting caught up in the excitement of all this kinda stuff for the new film when I still don't really expect it to rock my socks off, but still, even the most diehard detractors have to admit, having all this attention, a new RoboCop film, is just fantastic. _________________ I don't wanna pay that, PhotoBucket.
