Here's some more RoboCop 2 tidbits to get confused about. Some of you might have seen this picture before.
I remember it from a few years ago and then, as now, I can't get my head around what's really happening.

So Robo is under the Cain truck. Obviously getting there after being run over.
But if Robo was supposed to do a Indiana Jones and re-emerge at the other side, the back of the truck, then why is Robo at the side?
How exactly was Robo supposed to get back up and get to the front of the truck after that. Really odd.

Hmm, maybe he was run over by Hob and Angie's van?

Is there not another picture of Robo half lying on that sandy ground trying to get up, that the internet used to decorate with empty bottles of beer around as if he had a hangover?

That's actually plausible, but very comedic in a tragic way.

I just checked the movie, before fleeing in the van:

- Angie and Hob are shooting at the cops outside around that sand/gravel ground, Angie shoots a fog-grenade launcher, hence the fog all over the place. The first van gets out, gets some shooting by cops, and then they are turning to the right in what looks a different place, less open-space area (buildings around, and many police taurus parked around), a bit weird, maybe there was a cut in between but it's impossible to know.

- Lab explosion scene with Frank Miller.

- We cut to the second van getting out and turning to the left, next shot is Robo in the fog marching to the camera (appearing magically from nowhere). We see Cain driving. Robo shoots at the van (Cain's van we assume). The van smashing Robo frontally. We see the van from behind, Robo is clearly not below it or anywhere we can see. It looks as a very open-space area that connects directly to an open road.

- Robo's hand emerges from the fog in the windshield. (Auto-9 has disappeared by the way)

Still, I feel that gravel ground is the key (it even looks a bit foggy in the black & white picture), if something was cut I would say it was at the beginning of the van chase, in that specific area.

If that is Cain's van, doing an Indiana Jones could be the most simple explanation, but is hard to imagine Robo doing that, too much acrobatics, and the way he is smashed frontally just doesn't fit with that picture.

I still think it could be Angie & Hob's van running over him, but there is nothing in the movie that hints at it. It's also impossible to know if that picture of Robo getting up from the ground is just some behind the scene picture, or something that was actually filmed and to be shown on the screen.

Just to imagine a possibility: when we see Robo appearing in the fog and shooting a van, that could be Hob and Angie, they run over him. Then he is getting up and now it's Cain's van smashing him.

Another option: Cain's van running over Robo was shot in two different ways, the one we see in the movie was the one that did it to the final cut.

Robo being run over may look cheesy, but the idea fits the character, he is a titanium robot, people wouldn't mind to see him enduring the weight of a van over him.

By the way, just a bit before all this we see Catzo for the last time (he is escorting Hob and Angie with the Asian and a third guy, next time we see Hob and Angie they are alone), so cuts around that sequence seem to be connected, maybe for pace reasons (to make the action narrative flow straight), or maybe the material left out didn't look good.

RoboCop getting run over by Hob & Angie's truck seems possible to me. The film would show off RoboCop's strength being able to survive having such a truck drive over him, as well as the general line of RoboCop abuse of R2...

What about these two photo's you always see promoting R2, yet they are not in the movie at all:

This one bothers me greatly. What is RoboCop shaking his fist at? RoboCain? OCP getting away with the debacle? Toilets being occupied?

This one should obviously be after the first scene where the police force is looking at the animatronic puppet, and then walk away in anger. In the movie you can see Lewis staying behind, but then the scene cuts. Nancy Ellen was obviously to stay behind and walk towards the animatronic RoboCop, and perhaps say something along the lines of "Hang in there, buddy", but, in line with Kershner hating Nancy, this was cut.

Given the damages on the head and torso, it should be the last scene where Murph opens his helmet "Patience Lewis...".

I always thought the same. I thought itīd be a shot of him reaching his helmet to fix it, but thereīs no tool on his hand in that pic.

Also the background is similar with the lights and the trees.

Only Lewis is wearing her helmet...And in the movie she doesn't wear it neither holds it with her hand.
Her left hand is offscreen thought.

And Lewis is looking at something and with that expression on her face, it isn't good. So, perhaps it's an alternate cut of after she slams the tank into RoboCain and then it moves, signalling that he's still operational?

In the comic adaptation he's hit by Angie who's driving the van with Hob.

I'm guessing in the movie she backs over Robo then drives off?

I was thinking the same thing but then I thought since the comic adaptation doesnt show Robo being hit by Cains truck at all then they mustve just switched Angie to Cain running him over in the movie, rather than just omitting showing him getting hit twice. Novelization has it the same way the comic does

In the dismantling scene, Robo is hit by a crane and it impairs his vision (and is arguably one of the main reasons he doesn't fight back). However, RoboCain swings him around in one part, hitting his head off pipes and there is no visible issue.

Really? Cause his vision looks fine until Catzo hits it with the chisel

Indeed, Robo's display only gets permanently corrupted after they bang on him a while. Robo took a .44 Deagle hit point-blank to the head from Hob earlier in the film, and while he was 'scrambled' for a minute, he cleared up and he had no constant corrupted display from that.

That said, I have a feeling this topic is meant to be more for bigger question marks in the film rather than simple nitpicks, but whatever.
